Getting started as a coach
You can have your first client set up and receiving a program in under 10 minutes. Here's the full picture — account, profile, client invite, and first program.
Create your coach account
Go to gymbro.app/signup and select I'm a coach. Enter your email and choose a password — no credit card needed to start.
GymBro is free for up to 2 clients. You'll have full access to every feature — programs, check-ins, tracker targets, and the AI weekly read — so you can see exactly what you're getting before you commit.
Note: If you already have a client account on GymBro, you'll need a separate email to create a coach account. The two roles have different dashboards and can't be combined into one login.
Complete your coach profile
After signup, you'll be prompted to fill in your coach profile. This is what clients see when they accept your invite.
- Go to Coach → Profile in the top nav.
- Add your name, photo, and a short bio.
- Set your coaching speciality — shown on your public onboarding link.
Your profile is also where you connect Stripe if you plan to charge clients through the platform. See the Stripe billing guide when you're ready.
Add your first client
From your coach dashboard, click Add client. You have two options:
Invite by email
Enter your client's email. They'll receive an invite link, create their own account, and land straight in the client app. Their data links to your roster automatically.
Public onboarding link
Share your unique coach link. Clients sign up themselves, fill in an onboarding questionnaire, and can pay via Stripe before they land in your roster. Great for scaling acquisition without back-and-forth.
What your client sees
Once they accept the invite, your client gets the mobile-first GymBro app — a clean tab layout with their program, tracker, check-in forms, and AI coach. They don't see your coach dashboard at all.
- Workout tab: their active program, day by day. They tap to log each set.
- Track tab: daily macros, calories, water, and steps — set by you, filled in by them (or synced from Apple Health).
- Check-in tab: any forms you've assigned, plus progress photo prompts.
- AI tab: an in-session coach they can ask questions about their training and adherence.
Write and assign a program
Open your client's profile from the roster and go to the Program tab. Click New program to open the builder.
The builder is drag-and-drop: add days, add exercises from the library (100+ exercises, searchable), set sets, reps, weight and RPE targets per exercise, and attach a YouTube demo link if you want. When you're done, hit Assign and it ships to their app immediately.
See the program builder guide for the full walkthrough, including the AI review step.
What to do next
Set up a check-in form → Get weekly data from your client automatically.
Read the attention table → Understand how to spot clients who need a nudge.
Connect Stripe → Charge clients and let them manage their own subscription.
