Importing training history

If you or your clients are moving from another platform, you don't have to start from scratch. GymBro can import training history from Strong, PT Hub, and Trainerize via CSV export.

1

Export from your current platform

The first step is getting your data out of the platform you're leaving. Here's where to find the export option in each:

Strong

  1. Open Strong → tap the menu (top-left) → tap "Settings".
  2. Scroll to "Export Data" and tap "Export Workout Data".
  3. Strong generates a CSV file — share it via Files, AirDrop, or email.

PT Hub

  1. Log into the PT Hub web app.
  2. Go to Settings → Data Export → "Export client data".
  3. Download the ZIP file — the workout history CSV is inside.

Trainerize

  1. Log into Trainerize on desktop.
  2. Go to Settings → Account → "Export data".
  3. Choose the client and date range, then download the CSV.

Note: Each platform exports in a slightly different format. GymBro normalises the columns automatically — you don't need to reformat the file before uploading.

2

Upload in GymBro

For your own training history (athlete moving to GymBro):

  1. Open GymBro and go to More → Import training data.
  2. Tap the platform you're importing from.
  3. Select the CSV file and tap Import.

For importing a client's history as a coach:

  1. Open the client's profile.
  2. Go to the Training data tab and click Import history.
  3. Select the platform and upload the file.

The import runs in the background — large files take a minute or two. You'll get a notification when it's done.

3

What transfers

  • Exercise name (normalised to the GymBro exercise library where matched)
  • Date and time of each session
  • Sets, reps, and load (kg or lbs — converted automatically)
  • Duration (if present in the export)
  • Notes attached to a set or session (if the platform includes them)

What doesn't transfer:

  • Program assignments (only raw logged sets are imported)
  • Photos or videos
  • Client profiles or personal data (each client's history is imported separately)
4

Deduplication

If you import data that overlaps with sessions already in GymBro — for example, if a client used both Strong and GymBro for a few weeks during a transition — GymBro deduplicates by exercise name, date, and set count. Sessions that look identical won't be double-counted.

After the import, you can review a summary in the Training datatab showing how many sessions were imported, skipped (duplicates), and any exercise names that couldn't be matched to the library.

5

After import — what to do next

  • Unmatched exercises:any name that didn't match the library shows up as-is. You can manually map it to the closest library exercise to make it appear in trend graphs.
  • Unit check: if the source platform used lbs and you work in kg, verify the conversion looks right. GymBro converts automatically but shows the original unit too.
  • Assign the current program:imported history is raw data — it's not connected to a program. Build and assign a program in the program builder to start the client on a structured plan going forward.
